The Town of Bay Roberts have made sound investments in Newfoundland & Labrador’s tourism industry. They’ve developed many unique experiences that are affordable to operate. Embraced cultural change and incorporated its dynamics within their programs. And perhaps most significantly, attracted a staff who are particularly suited to their roles. As our father often reminds us;
“If you’re going to be in the hospitality industry, you’d best be hospitable!”
“… sound investments…”
For the past two summers, McCarthy’s Party Tours has partnered with the town, integrating their ‘Toutons and Tunes’ production into our ‘Five Day Eastern Newfoundland Tour’; a grand finale for an ‘Excursion Around the Bay’.
Tourists marvel at the friendly summer students, their musical talents, and the personal stories they share. Love the cooking and banter provided by chef Ron Delaney – who doubles as the town’s ‘Director of Tourism’. And of course, get a great kick out of the personal greeting and interpretation provided by the town’s mayor, Lois Dawe!
Especially when they discover she isn’t really the Mayor.
For all agree she could be!
“… Toutons & Tunes…”
Hopefully there will always be those individuals who put forth as much effort as Lois Dawe. Lois greets every group at the Town Hall, guides us through her community and provides a personal interpretation of the most recent events and developments they’ve engaged. She stays for the performance at the ‘Red Shed’, encourages the students, and helps serve food, drinks and cheer.
She first joined us in order to keep the tour on schedule, but she’s become a major part of the attraction.
“… encourages students…”
The second time Lois hosted us, one of our guests asked if she was the Mayor – and it stuck. So effectively, it became our “go to” greeting whenever she steps aboard. For we truly “worship” Lois Dawe and everyone who make these events so special.
Congratulations and many thanks to all involved.
