A post from Francis Corrigan:
As a company McCarthy’s Party takes great pride in the quality of our tour guides. Our guides are first and foremost, local characters that have varied backgrounds, an exceptional knowledge base; unique life experiences and a wide variety of special talents and attributes which make every McCarthy’s tour unique. They are kind and considerate, they are hospitable and they are great ambassadors for our province. Most importantly tough, they are interesting people who are especially interested – both in every aspect of their home province and as well, those guests who decide to travel with us. They want to know who you are and where you came from, what you did for a living, how you enjoy your spare time and more often than not – how it relates to the tour – or better, some way they might in fact be related to you.
Obviously we do whatever we can to encourage these values and so offer PD days, regular communication and guide gatherings as often as possible. This year’s Christmas guide meeting was most effective as we reviewed our itineraries, compared notes and offered suggestions on how to make our tours even more enjoyable. Additionally we introduced our new blogging strategy which will soon be available on our website and is currently active on our McCarthy’s Party Facebook page. This was well received by our guides – especially when explained how simple or involved a blog can be. From a few lines with an appropriate photograph to a full-fledged story – blogging simply makes our site more interactive, allows past clients to maintain contact with us and hopefully encourages new guests to visit our province.
Up until this week I have been maintaining most of these blog postings myself but in typical fashion, the boys (& Linda) have already started to exhibit their commitment to this strategy. Unwilling to wait for access to their individual blog page they have been sending notes and photos for us to post immediately; thus inspiring my words today and the following photos from Francis Corrigan.
Thanks to all our guides, staff and guests for a wonderful year. We look forward to seeing much more of them this spring and our new guests this summer.
