MULTI-DAY TOUR REVIEWS

We thought we could explore Newfoundland using public transport in the main... And then my sister said- “ Forget that impossible dream & look up McCarthy’s Party”. Thank heavens for sisters. I googled, then rang. Phones matter- Rebecca was so helpful & friendly and put us on a cancellation list as the 12 day Comprehensive Tour was completely booked out for our dates. Full marks. Eventually we got an end of August slot & met up with Philip our guide, Audrey who drove our very comfortable coach and an extremely pleasant group of Canadians & visitors from the States.

Our tour guide Peter Laracy is an exceptional ambassador for the province! His knowledge of & love for his homeland are infectious. He did a fantastic job of making sure all 38 of us mingled & got to know one another & share the experience. We look forward to returning again someday. I would highly recommend a McCarthy's tour to anyone.

Philip was a terrific guide, going way above the call of duty. His guitar was to hand many evenings for a sing song, accompanied on accordion by one of the group. Go on readers, check out u tube for Let me Fish on Cape St Mary’s! And read The Fishing News ( Proulx) and Sweetland ( Crummy) while you’re at it. Audrey drove us about 3200 km in 11 days. An amazing person and super driver.

Accommodations were generally good as was food, with some stand out lunches - the Shallow Bay Motel also has Sharon who tells the best jokes and apparently never sleeps - a treasure.

The sites we visited were diverse and fascinating- Viking, Beothuk, Trading outposts, great salmon rivers.. Our two side trips by boat were great fun as well as informative. We even saw fin whales!

WOW...... What a wonderful experience. An in-depth adventure into the history and beauty of Newfoundland and Labrador. The entire, well organized tour was full of awesome food and great folks. I nominate Joe Wiseman Chief Fun Herder for his way of imparting knowledge of the treasured island. I will return again... I am sure
