SEE YOU SOON

McCarthy’s Party Tours has always maintained a keen focus on quality service and customer satisfaction. We’ve developed a brilliant tour and our guides provide such a thorough indoctrination that our guests leave the province sharing Newfoundland’s passion for “home”. And since most of them found us through a personal endorsement from friends and family, we strongly maintain that “guest experience” is paramount to our success.

While the internet and social media affords many new opportunities to reach larger audiences and exponentiate our marketing model, there is nothing quite so rewarding as the many personal notes and stories we share in our travels, and the rather serendipitous meetings we enjoy.

“… on line shopping…”

This past weekend we were visiting friends in Corner Brook when a relatively new acquaintance stopped in to say hello. To say he was excited to see us would be an understatement. Though we share great company on every occasion, he had a “Brilliant” story to tell, nearly gushing as he burst forth with the details.

It seems our new friend was home visiting his parents in Kingston, ON the week before. While staying at their new condo he decided to take the family dog out for a walk. In the dog park he was immediately included in the conversation with the other owners and when one couple discovered his connection to Newfoundland – they were quick to speak of their recent trip to the “Rock” and how much they enjoyed the wonderful tour they’d booked with a local operator on the island. When my friend asked the name of the company they immediately responded with ‘McCarthy’s Party’; amid further testimony and glowing reviews about their “Wonnerful Fine Time”. But when he asked who their guide was, the conversation became especially personal as they now had many stories to share about their mutual guide and friend – you guessed it, me!

“… dog parking only.”

When I returned to St. John’s a few days later, I shared this story with my folks, reminding them of a similar encounter they had at an NHL hockey game while they were in Toronto visiting our Brother David during the Christmas break. Returning to their seats after the first intermission they found a cameraman sitting in their row, intensely focused on the action. The folks stood patiently while the gentleman continued shooting until he took note of their presence and apologised for the intrusion. He immediately acknowledged their right to the seats and explained that their view was much better than his box seat where it was near impossible to capture a decent photo of his son (#55 Mark Scheifele) who plays for the visiting Winnipeg Jets. This of course led to a great discussion and when the gentleman discovered their connection to Newfoundland, he informed them that he had just sold a travel agency through which he had sent dozens of guests to tour with a fantastic family business called McCarthy’s Party.

Though we often dismiss such chance encounters with the expression “It’s a small world!”, our Mother responds with a personal adage “Only when you live it large! The rest of the world may be separated by 6 degrees, but Newfoundlanders are only 3 exchanges of conversation away from knowing every soul on the planet!”

Look forward to hearing about your encounters and how you made the decision to visit Newfoundland and join McCarthy’s Party Tours.
