Mark worked part time as tour director and sales representative for McCarthy’s Party from the age of fifteen until he finished his first undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Memorial University in 1993. The following year he was awarded an exchange scholarship with Eastern New Mexico University where he completed an English degree. His Bachelor of Arts for this program was awarded by Memorial University in 1995. That same year he accepted a position with Sports Villas resorts as the Director of Corporate Sales. In 1996, he enrolled in the Masters of Business Administration Program at Dalhousie University in Halifax. He graduated in 1997 with a special focus on financial strategies for the family enterprise. Mark took on the role of President of McCarthy’s Party Tours and Convention Services in 1999. McCarthy’s Party, which was founded in 1982, has evolved into Newfoundland and Labrador’s Premier Full Service Destination Management Company and Escorted Tour Company. His knowledge of the tourism industry and his experience in other business sectors have allowed him to serve on many boards in the past including The St. John’s Board of Trade and the Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism Board. He is presently active on the board of Destination St. John’s and CANAL.
Blair has worked with McCarthy’s Party since 2002. He started off as a tour guide while working on a BA in Political Science and History at Memorial University. Once completed, his passion for the tourism industry lead him to becoming the Manager of Operations and Local Tours and ultimately the Director of Meetings, Conventions, Incentive Travel and Local Tours. With over 10 years experience in the tourism industry, Blair has a great knowledge of the products and venues that make Newfoundland such a unique destination.
Joel was born and raised on the west coast of Newfoundland in the town of Pasadena. After finishing high school he moved to St. John’s in 2002 to begin University. He began working at McCarthy's in the summer of 2005 while studying Business Administration at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
